Two main ferry companies provide service between mainland ports and the islands.
   Miller Boat Line, established in 1905, is the only ferry company transporting vehicles as well as passengers from their Catawba Dock near Port Clinton, OH and South Bass (Put-in-Bay) and Middle Bass Islands. The Miller Ferry makes the trip to South Bass Island across the South Passage in 18 minutes and is located 2 miles from downtown Put-in-Bay.
   Miller only accepts vehicle reservations to Put-in-Bay from commercial carriers, but reservations are required for all vehicles traveling to Middle Bass Island.

   Put-in-Bay's largest golf cart and bicycle rental is located at the top of the Miller Ferry Lime Kiln Dock on South Bass Island. Foot passengers can also take the Downtown Bus to the Put-in-Bay Depot for $2.50 or take the Checker Cab or Put-in-Bay Taxi anywhere on the island for a set fee per person.
   Put-in-Bay's Jet Express transports passengers only between downtown Port Clinton, OH and downtown Put-in-Bay. The ferry service also offers passenger ferry service between downtown Sandusky, OH and downtown Put-in-Bay. Passengers can also ride between both mainland ports and Kelleys Island, or purchase a combination ticket for both islands from either mainland port.

   On the island you can rent bicycles and golf carts to explore the island. Many island lodging establishments have a small fleet of golf carts for rent, but the two largest golf cart rentals are Island Bike and Cart Rental, located at both the Miller Ferry and Put-in-Bay Jet Express docks, and the Park Bike & Cart Rental, located downtown Put-in-Bay a half a block from the Jet Express dock. Erie Island Carts offers golf cart rentals at the Put-in-Bay Airport and within walking distance of the Put-in-Bay State Park.
   The Sonny S Ferry operates between downtown Put-in-Bay and Middle Bass Island. A smaller passenger ferry, the Sonny S also transports bicycles and freight between the islands. It departs the Boardwalk (Doller) Dock downtown. Visit the Sonny S website for costs and its current schedule.
