Put-in-Bay is located on South Bass Island in Lake Erie's western basin. South Bass is the southern most of the three Bass Islands and is approximately three miles from Port Clinton, OH. 
   South Bass Island is serviced by two commercial ferry companies.
   The Put-in-Bay Jet Express operates between downtown Port Clinton and downtown Put-in-Bay and carries passengers and bicycles, but no vehicles. The Jet Express also operates between downtown Sandusky, OH and downtown Put-in-Bay and also makes stops at Kelleys Island. The Jet offers combination tickets that allow its customers to travel from either port and visit both Put in Bay and Kelleys Island.
   Miller Boat Line operates between Catawba Island, located about five miles outside of Port Clinton, and Put-in-Bay. The Miller Ferry carries passengers and vehicles to both Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island and to Middle Bass Island. The Miller Ferry does not accept vehicle reservations to Put in Bay except for commercial carriers, but requires reservations for anyone traveling to Middle Bass Island with a vehicle.

   Private boaters will also find plenty of dock space downtown on the harbor. The Village of Put-in-Bay owns two large docks in the downtown public marina (A and C Docks) and the DeRivera Park Trust owns the third (B Dock) in the public marina.
   Boaters will also find smaller venues along the waterfront, including the Boardwalk, Fox's (Duggan's) Dock, Miller Marina, Put-in-Bay Marina and Put-in-Bay Yacht Club. Each of these entities set their own dockage rates and they may vary slightly from dock to dock.
   Put in Bay is also accessible by private and small commercial aircraft and the Put-in-Bay Township Port Authority operates an airport on the island. Currently there is no one manning the terminal but pilots still have access to the flight computer and just need to leave their information at the sign-in area.
